Robbie's Case Study
Robbie contacted me because she had never felt comfortable and was, in fact, very unhappy in her new home. She and her husband had been living in the condo for about eight months. She’d been having upsetting dreams and other sleep disturbances, and her animal companions were also showing signs of stress. She wondered if there was a spirit entity or ghost behind the problems at home.
When I went to their home, I could feel there was unhealthy movement of energy and some stuck or loop energy in a few spots. But it seemed to me the problem stemmed more from Robbie’s feelings about the place. They had always lived in older homes in established neighborhoods. The newly built condo next to a shopping mall was far from their ideal environment. Dave was able to accept and adapt, but Robbie resisted and resented. As an artist, she was offended by the dark underground parking lot and the concrete block hallways that she encountered every time she came home.
I took readings from each part of the home, and made notes of the energy flow. My report would need to give them ways to enliven their space and help Robbie change her attitude about the things that were out of her control.
Since she had such negative feelings as she approached their condo, I suggested Robbie focus her mental energy on the idea of coming home to her loved ones – husband and cats. Walking down the hallway, she should look beyond the concrete walls to the green landscaping through the glass doors. And consider placing a fragrant sachet in the mailbox with an uplifting aroma – pine, peppermint or lavender. This will enhance the feeling of welcome.
Their condo complex has some very nice amenities – a beautiful pool and spa, access to a paved path along the river, and a well-equipped workout room. I suggested she and Dave try to take advantage of these features. It may feel uncomfortable at first, but once they start mixing themselves into new areas, there is an energy exchange and it will become a part of them. Routines can be good, but making an effort to shift them can create a big difference in one’s energy.
Entering their home, I felt the energy moving very fast over the stone floor and out the front door. I suggested an entry way rug to slow down this movement, and provide comfort to their cat Eden, who spent a lot of time there. Also, the overhead light was bright and a bit harsh, so I recommended a lower-watt bulb to further soften the entry.
Sitting in their living room was like being in an energy wind tunnel. I knew this rapid flow of chi was draining them. There were several things they could do to slow and soften the movement of chi: add crystals to the curtain rod over the patio doors to help split the energy; use tall plants on the patio to hide the view of the hallway of the next building; bring in a floor lamp that casts full-spectrum light up to the ceiling; and put a few lamps on timers so they can come into a home that is light and welcoming.
There was nice natural light in the bedroom, but again the view of the neighboring hallway was unfortunate. I suggested some kind of translucent window treatment to allow light in and soften the view. Energy flow in the bedroom was good, and the furniture was beautifully unique, designed by Robbie. However the cabinet had imprint energy from its previous incarnation, and I felt she should work on keeping it very tidy for awhile, to help move that old energy out. A salt crystal lamp, a dream catcher, and a crystal hanging from the ceiling fan would also help the overall feeling in the room.
There was loop energy of past arguments and disagreements hovering in a corner of the bedroom. This could have been a factor in the unsettling dreams and sleep disturbances that prompted Robbie to contact me, but I didn’t feel it was the whole story. I felt that, in general, Robbie is too open to the spirit world. She needed to work on protecting herself from unwanted contact. I gave her tips on preparing herself for restful sleep and setting boundaries with spirit energy.
The main bathroom had a long counter with two sinks. They felt disconnected, and I suggested some natural softening feature to bring them together – a tray of stones or crystals on the counter. I also felt the room would be more open if the sliding glass shower doors were replaced with a curtain.
The second bedroom belonged to Dave, a musician. It housed an impressive collection of music memorabilia, and had very warm, nostalgic energy. Because of all the collectibles, there was strong imprint energy, especially in the main curio cabinet. I suggested ways to move this energy: take items out of the case and into natural light (sun and moon) for a “breather,” and open the cabinet and put a fan on it to mix new energy with old.
I recommended rotating plants from their patio into the home on a regular schedule, to bring living energy into all the rooms.
After the first clearing/blessing, I returned twice more to help Robbie accept her living space and find ways to make the home her own. She is a very creative and sensitive individual, and came up with many beautiful solutions. Their home is now quite welcoming and all those living there feel more comfortable. As Robbie says, “The house is now a home.”
